ShareRound Privacy Policy

ShareRound helps you share items with people you know. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and password. You may optionally add a phone number and profile photo.

Items and sharing activity. We store the items you add (including names, descriptions, photos, and optional details like cost and value), your circles and connections, borrow and return activity, comments, and reminders.

Messages. Messages you send to other users are stored so they can be delivered and displayed.

Managed profiles. If you create a profile for someone who is not yet on ShareRound, we store the name and any contact information you enter about them. This information is visible only to you until that person claims the profile. If you are described in a managed profile and want it removed, contact us at the address below.

Device and technical information. We collect push notification tokens so we can send notifications, and basic technical information needed to operate the service. If something goes wrong in the app, we record diagnostic details to help us find and fix the problem — this may include an error message and technical trace, the screen and action involved, your account's user ID, your device platform (iOS, Android, or web), and the app version. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting tools; we do not use advertising trackers; and we do not sell your personal information.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide the service: showing your items to your circles, connecting you with other users, delivering messages and notifications
• Send service emails such as verification and password reset messages
• Maintain the security of the platform and enforce our Terms of Use
• Respond when you contact us for support

How Your Information Is Shared

With other users. Your name, profile photo, items you choose to share, and your lending and borrowing activity are visible to the circles and connections you participate in, according to the sharing choices you make in the app.

With service providers. We use Appwrite (cloud database and authentication, hosted in the United States) to store and process data, and our email is delivered through our hosting provider. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users or the platform.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your information is kept while your account is active. You may delete your account at any time in the app's settings. When you delete your account, your profile and personal information are removed, though records of past activity involving other users (such as lending history) may remain visible to those users.

Your Choices and Rights

• You can update your profile information in the app at any time.
• You can turn off push notifications in your device settings.
• You can request access to or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy law, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. We will honor valid requests as required by law.

Children

ShareRound is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app.
